PHOTOS: Hungarian rescue team returns home from Türkiye
The rescue team of the Hungarian Baptist Charity returned from south-east Türkiye, hit by a devastating earthquake, on Sunday morning.
The 18-member team helped by 8 search dogs rescued seven people from under the ruins of buildings that collapsed in Antakya, László Pavelcze, the leader of the team, told reporters. Two of the people were in life-threatening condition, he said.
Béla Szilágyi, the leader of the Baptist Charity, said rescue teams have to work at the site marked for them by the UN amid rough conditions of sub-zero temperatures, lack of electricity and water supplies and continued aftershocks. The charity has so far provided HUF 10 million (EUR 26,000) in assistance to help those in need and will send a consignment of aid to Syria on Monday.
